Les Preuses Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2012

Dauvissat perfection. 2012 Preuses is in an amazing spot, riveting, chiseled, textural and pure with classic Chablisen oyster shell minerality in a tidal wave of spiced orchard fruit, lilies and the slightest nutty edge. It’s incredibly silky on the palate showing killer density without weight. Lasers of racy citrusy acids and a long saline finish round it out. Fabulous showing. — 2 days ago

Séchet Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Nose: elegant mushroom. Beautiful.

Palate: silky. Lemon flower. Subtly vibrant. Contained richness as this opens. A hint of spice.

Fine and filigreed.

Not super seashelly. Might guess chassagne blind.

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Always felt this wine a bit boring, even in a **** vintage. A recent Capbern had more depth and cigar spice. — 18 days ago

Agreed. To be fair, Capbern punches way above its weight. I dig those wines

Continuing quest to taste as many 22’s as possible.

Beautiful honeysuckle notes, Meyer lemon and spring flowers on the nose.

The palate show a good presence of Meyer lemon right at the top. Butterscotch notes, honeysuckle-honey comb, apricots, yellow peach, ripe, syrupy pineapple, cream, slivered almonds, saline, flinty notes, limestone marl, toast, some soft white spices, lots of moist to mushy chalk, yellow & spring flowers, excellent, round acidity and a well made, elegant, round, lush, finish that lasts 90 seconds landing on spice & minerals.

This will merit another point of two with appropriate age but still hard to justify $240 a bottle. The strong lemon presence needs time to calm.

Saint Guirons Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Cork came out in 3 pieces, but no cork pieces left in bottle. Color is still medium-red, very faint browning on edges, massive cedar and cigar box aromatics, some pencil lead as well shows on palate, medium-weight, lovely balance, long, lingering finish, great older Bordeaux. Purchased at release for a song ($125/case) still have 5 left, this is one of my all-time favorite Pauillacs in the “non-1st, non-super 2d” category, amazing juice!! — 3 months ago

I’m amazed you still have any left! I didn’t have the wherewithal to buy many 82s on release or as futures, but what little I didn’t last 10 years as delicious as they were from day 1.

@Tom Casagrande, I did buy a large slug of 1982s, and fortunately I stored them in a friend’s basement in Queens, so they were not easily accessible. And when we moved to California, I had them shipped out but they were stored in Napa, so a good hour drive with limited opening hours. That’s probably what saved the 5-7 cases of 1982s I have left from being consumed earlier. Cheers!!
