2002 vintage. Still that feminine style of Napa cab that just glides along after all these years. Two decades down and has at least 5-7 more years before dropping weight/texture. Harmonious and holding on to fruit in a light-medium body where you can tell it's cabernet vs initially thinking it's a zin, pinot, syrah, et al. Instructive in its' elegance and subtle staying power which is hardly a surprise given the wine's focus from day one. — 2 years ago
Happy New Year with tasting group. Showing its age but Holding together at 35+ years. — 3 years ago
The sleeper vintage. Simply just ready to go, holding nothing back as it wafts from the glass and the decanter with layers of cassis, cedar, violets and licorice. This is a wine of texture, as Margaux should be, and indeed its greatest attribute on this occasion. Liquid cashmere in the mouth with melting tannins, it’s sensual and elegant, caressing the palate with each sip, leading to its black truffle and mineral inflicted finale that keeps on going. Excellent showing tonight, and for my tastes drinking at its apogee. — 2 years ago
Holding up well for a 13 year old PN. Drink now, it’s not going to get any better. — 4 months ago
1971 vintage. Top shoulder fill. Used a Durand but fully saturated cork still required some clean up on aisle 7. Decanted and tasted after 5 minutes. Threw much much less sediment than expected. Decent color with a little browning. Tertiary nose gave way to similar flavors with it being very slightly brickish. In a holding steady phase where there is no shining light to chase after-everything is consolidated and filed away so you're tasting the interpretations of history. Instructive. 6.13.24. — 7 months ago

So delish! Beautiful and holding strong with notes of blackberry, black currant, clove, star anise, licorice, dried orange peel, black olive, potpourri, tobacco, leather, earth, cured meat, pencil shavings, graphite, spice box, forest floor. Complex and balanced with a long, elegant finish. — 20 days ago
