Domaine Les Roches (Alain et Jérome Lenoir)

Chinon Cabernet Franc 2005

Absolutely lovely aged Loire Cabernet Franc, suave, red-fruited, soft tannic structure, long, lingering finish, this still has a future, but Lenoir Chinon lasts a long time!! — 11 hours ago

2023. Dark red raspberry. Pepper and a touch of baking spices. Super powerful. This is not a delicate pinot. There are wines that are a privilege to drink. This is that. — 6 months ago

Les Chailles Cornas Syrah 2016

Given Voge reputation, I expected more from this wine. Maybe it’s not quite ready yet, but it was a bit underwhelming. Quite shy on the palate, the length was there, but not the complexity. The acidity was pronounced on the second day. I’ll wait another few years until I open the next bottle. — a month ago

Ripe pineapple, golden straw color, has some middle weight tannins but light on the finish. Green apple, pomelo pith, flint, mineral, tropical fruit. Great wine for a meal at the Arden Waikiki. — 10 months ago

Cornas Syrah 2015

Was going to get the 2016 given I generally love that vintage across much of Europe but the somm talked me into the 2015 saying it was more open. He was right - this was delicious, and still traditional and “old school” with a restrained 13.5%. Tons of pepper and dark dark fruit with some olive. Very delicious with nice medium acid and a long finish. — 4 years ago
