See previous note in June 2023 where I questioned the ripeness of the fruit. This has the trademark spice and pepper. Very little fruit, more savoury characters. From one of Australia’s leading cool climate wineries. As Jancis said, “a real sense of place “ - in this case the Macedon Ranges just north of Tullamarine Airport. Very different to SA Shiraz. Just medium bodied - a leathery note with balanced tannins. As in previous note a touch of astringency at the finish. — 3 months ago
Oh that nose! Roses and roots and fruits
Crunchy texture, light but at the same time a lot of body. Perfect acidity. Delicious finish
This has to be one of the best Gamays produced on this side of the Atlantic. — 2 months ago
Pretty deep ruby , quite narrow still ruby /garnet rim . Quite masculine , slightly high toned , grafite , cassis nose , blackberry, tobacco . Cool blackcurrant , mineral , quite strict acidity and gritty tannins. Good length , quite foursquare , grafite finish . From now , though will improve over the next 5-10 and hold possibly a further 5-10 — 7 months ago
Rich and delicious, focused on fruit and oak. Purple black, flinty complex cab franc that’s mild on tannins and moderately acidic. — 2 years ago
Excellent really. Sweet Pinot Fruit. Cherry 🍒 mostly. Just 13.5%. Very refined. Like a Burgundy at a much better price point. Planted in 1996 to Pommard, Wadenswil and 114. Dry farmed! Needs at least 2 hours of air. Teanotes, … fresh! In my book one of the top 10 Pinots in the US. — 3 months ago
Very polished and restrained. Grippy with chalk and cool lemon. Limestone. Poised and quiet but quite fleshy. — 2 months ago

Terrific nose of lemon curd, minerals, smoke, crushed rocks, some light butter notes and lime zest. Some hints of fleshy citrus fruits as well. Gorgeous and so clean. Palate is energetic and steely with lots of acid and linearity. Juicy apple and citrus fruit and a long mineral finish. Needs air to unwind and I will be back. Terrific concentration and so salty on the finish with intriguing iodine notes on the mid palate. Really juicy ash coming together so quickly as it aerates. So harmonious. After this airs it gets a nice backbone and some elegant sweet wood in the mid palate. Now the finesse comes in spades and this is a 9.6 9.4 to 9.6 in 4 hours. — a day ago
