i asked for something interesting & unusual and this was suggested: southern Rhône varietals from CA, and it was fantastic! pours a deep rich ruby, opaque and wafting a cornucopia of aromas, intoxicating: first it was all exotic spices like clove & incense, garrigue, then it was cherry compote then it turned to raspberry pie, dried orange rind, dried herbs, pepper, etc. My first CA wine that smelled like high end CdP - liquified distilled voluptuous aromas & flavors. palate was so jam packed, med bodied, finely grained tannins, silky & suave - balanced acidity. screams old vine fruit handled well — 14 days ago
