Still kickin’. Nose: Cherry tobacco, exquisite, raisins. Palate: low tannins, long finish, hints of plum. No decanting needed. Drink now. — a day ago

2022 vintage. Medium/medium heavy body. Nice, initial draw and mid-palate kaleidoscope but a shunted finish. Started off nearly identical to the 2022 Gary's Vineyard same producer/vintage but lacking the epic, back end, guitar solo outro. Brand new so would like to retaste in 8-12 months. We all know how fickle the pinot noir grape can be. 04.02.25. — 5 months ago
Really enjoyed this Monvigliero showing red cherry, strawberry, rose petal & spice box. Youthful with silky tannins that needed some air — a month ago
I sold Barolos and Barbarescos from this winery with the first importer I worked for back in the early 80s. It’s been in the decanter about an hour, and though the lightish color shows maturity, some fruit is emerging g to join with the intense mahogany furniture/old library scents. Incense too, along with faded rose petals. Very classic. In the mouth, it’s powerful and somewhat austere. Not a fruity wine. Still a fair amount of tannin present. The austerity and power will pair nicely with the braised oxtails (coda alla vaccinara) that are almost ready. — 2 months ago
The mighty Pisoni Vineyard produces some very compelling Pinot Noir. It’s hard to pick it early because the signature of the site seems to develop later. I liked it. Not to take any of the winemaking for granted it seemed fully ripe but had an acid tang I was surprised by. More time in bottle might grind that down. I’d dance to it — 6 months ago

Last had nearly two years ago, and this seems even more closed than then. Decanted 5 hours but didn’t really open all that much. Tons of cherry on the nose, which is nice. But the palate is quite unexpressive and the finish is overwrought with dusty tannins still. Another 5 years? — 7 days ago
