375 ml. Gorgeous nose of peach, apricot, lightly honeyed, very bright. On the palate it’s quite intense but so nicely balanced. Almost a little tannic thing in the finish which shows the intensity. I know we’re drinking it young but we’re with my dad and he’s 94, and loves Riesling, so we’re living in the present. And the present here is pretty nice. — a month ago

Light straw colour . Pretty mineral and focused on the palate . Linear with lemon oil , touch of brioche and white flowers . Quite intense on the palate with real focus , very fresh acidity but with enough body to cover . This tastes very young really and probably needs more time to be at peak . Wait another 5 years perhaps and will probably last another 10-15 — 3 years ago

Quite light ruby , wide light ruby rim . Rose and strawberry, raspberry, red cherry scented, slight hint of anis and fresh herbs. In the mouth nice sweet red fruits , cherry and strawberry , that touch of anis again . Pretty refreshing acidity , quite fine but noticeable tannins . Reasonable length and overall nicely balanced . This benefitted from a bit of air , and though young was a good match with a rather simple pasta with Bolognese sauce. This is good from now (with food and time in the decanter ) though will offer good drinking over the next 3-5 years . A nice and well made Langhe Nebbiolo.

Swoon. Smells like an artisan bakery early in the morning... there’s that really fruity pungent sourdough starter smell, mixed with a whiff of bread that’s just started to brown in the oven. Then it’s just an insanely fruity, pretty, complex nose, with hints of pear, quince and raspberry. Palate is absurd; spot on acid, enough chalky minerals to keep it interesting, but it isn’t austere at all.

In fact, it’s one of the most seductive young champagnes I can remember trying. The sweetness on the finish is perfect and so natural. A real stunner. Would not think twice about paying 2x what this sells for. Disgorged 2020. — 5 years ago

Man I love this wine. Duchovney said “god hates us all”. Which may be true. But some days he loves volnay drinkers. And on this day he loves me. At least over dinner of medium rare magret with shallot truffle red wine sauce (yes I used a quarter glass of this in the sauce because I’m a baller).

In any case boo yah. This needs an hour to settle down so dont pop and pour this at this point. The first thing I want to talk about is the texture. It passes by the palate with a clear but not thick alert to its presence. Just palate coating like a spray gun. Just soaks the palate an inch deep. Perfectly pure cherry fruit at the tipping point between fresh / young and deep/ dense. Some spice. It has that palate vibrancy thing going on. Really sticks on the finish. Long. Hits the top of the mouth between gum and tooth.

MOs def a hand over land wine as this is definitely 1er cru quality. Outrageous for village volnay. Me love-ee this producer. — 7 years ago

Medium ruby with a medium garnet rim . Touch more sweetness on the nose , with rose , ripe cherry , red plum , raspberry , blood orange and some slightly toasty notes . On the palate this is juicy and quite sweet fruit profiled with raspberry, strawberry, quite fruit dominated . Rounded but noticeable tannins , fresh vibrant acidity and decent length . This is quite young, certainly compared to the Malconsorts , pretty sweet fruit , but overall well balanced and probably just needs a little more time . Quite a lot appears to be hidden at the moment , comes across a little one dimensional, but I think it will get there . Come back in 5-8 years, should drink well a further 10, if not more. — a month ago

Pretty light straw , still with a hint of green . Very youthful on the nose , with green apple , white flowers , light kerosine notes . On the palate a lovely weightless quality , steely with green apple , white fruits , light mineral hints and long fresh , wet slate finish. Pretty deep colour with very little bricking . Pretty deep cassis , black fruit nose , touch of truffle , grafite . Lovely red and dark fruits , great acidity , ripe slightly gritty tannins , long slightly slate and grafite finish . I love me a 2010 Bordeaux!!! Dont think this vintage has ever let me down and I definately prefer it to 2009. This was very smooth with lots of dark fruits. Still insanely young on the palate. I think these wines will go pretty much forever! — 4 years ago

Took a while to open up, but when it did, this light wine has teeth-staining tannins, pretty lavender accents and a bitter cherry finish that carries on forever. Definitely drinkable now but this wine is so young, could age for a decade before truly balancing out. — 7 years ago

Lemon in color with a golden hue.

Pretty nose with flowers, yeast, citrus, lemons, green apples, limes, spices, herbs and minerals.

Medium bodied with high acidity, and medium sized bubbles.

Dry on the palate with limes, grapefruits, citrus, green apples, light earth, minerals, herbs, sea salt and light spices.

Long finish with limes and light herbs.

This is a delicious Champagne, but feels extremely young. Elegant and nicely balanced. Complex and interesting. Rich and tangy. Soft and smooth.

Much better after 45 minutes of airtime, and better when not too cold.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay and 18% Meunier.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

Bit more lightening on the rim , more garnet . Touch more herbal on the nose with cedar , and grafite, much more lean and mineral on the palate. This takes quite a while to find its feet and benefits from quite a lot of air . In some ways a little unfortunate to be served between the 2000 and 1990 , which are a fuller , and more showy in style . However after a while this does show quite good length and balance , refreshing acidity . This is quite lean and mineral , focused and still pretty young . From now over the next 10 years. A little austere in style , reminds me a little of the 2005 in that aspect , though without that vintage’s intensity or density . — 2 years ago

Got a great deal on 6 pack of these two Bordeaux greats. Both got scores of 99, but the range of scores was pretty wide for both as well. I know I have to lay them down for 10 years+ but I wanted to try both for a baseline.
The Palmer is showing a lot more than the Ducru. It’s very enjoyable now! Nose is fantastic if a touch muted but still get nice cedar, black cherry, hint of floral, and something herbal. The palate is slate, cherry, blackberry, and currant. Not muted or closed in the least, but the slate thing overlays the fruit. Does that make sense? Help me describe that.
All in all I love this wine. Can’t hardly wait for 10 years from now. Guessing I won’t! — 4 years ago
