Harlan Estate

Napa Valley Proprietary Red Blend 2004

With 20 years of age this wine has evolved. The primary fruit has moved to deep dried versions of cherry blackberry and fig side by side with earth tar leather cedar bitter cocoa and tobacco. The nose is extremely pronounced and the tannins now soft. It was worth keeping these 2 decades. — 5 months ago

Thierry Allemand

Chaillot Cornas Syrah 2010

Sooo seems 2010 Northern Rhône is ready! After a stunning 2010 Jamet in recent weeks I was inspired to try ‘10 Allemand. A multi-hour decant has it simply rocking, wafting distinctive, captivating Allemand aromatics of deep dark fruit, olive tapenade, charcuterie, violets and a liquid rock minerality. It’s at the point where fresh primary fruit meets the cusp of secondary, tertiary character. The palate is silky, vibrant and mineral with its structured tannins beginning to soften. I wonder how 2010 Reynard would compare. But Chaillot, with air, is most certainly ready, but of course only entering its prime drinking window. Love these wines! — 10 months ago

Youthful & mostly primary that you can approach now with its dark cherry, berry fruits, lots of spice, underbrush, meat & violet — 10 hours ago

Château Larcis Ducasse

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

In the nose this Château Larcis Ducasse 2009 offers an inviting and complex bouquet. Primary aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries are prominent. These are complemented by secondary notes of cedar, tobacco, and a hint of graphite. As the wine opens up, it reveals layers of truffle, leather, and sweet spices such as cinnamon and cloves. This simply is a great nose

In the mouth the palate is rich, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced. The wine displays an impressive structure with silky, well-integrated tannins. Flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and black cherry dominate, supported by nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, and earthy undertones. This is a real treat because it’s so easy drinking.

The finish is long, smooth, and elegant, lingering with notes of dark fruit, vanilla, and a touch of smokiness.

Overall this wine is an exemplary wine from Saint-Émilion, showcasing the best characteristics of the vintage and type of wine, mine kind of a wine 😋. It is a wine of depth, complexity, and refinement, so no regrets here 💪.

Fine description 👌

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2005

A very primary but nonetheless accessible L-B, tons of cassis and black olive, prominent toasty oak suggest less than 5 as opposed to 17 yrs of age. Fullish in body and quite long, likely to soften up in time just don’t know how much! — 2 years ago

Mount Veeder Syrah 2012

Blackberry, rich, ripe, dare I say still quite primary fruit, some mountain structure peaks through, nice balance, long finish, needs many more years of aging!! — a month ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

A murky purple magenta color, but still appears young. Very aromatic with beautiful notes of blackberry, perfume followed by sandalwood, wet rich soil, pencil lead and sweet oak. Tastes young with tannins still present leaving many years for aging. Primary flavors of blackberry cedar and bitter sweet chocolate with secondary notes of cassis, new leather, pepper, dried herbs, and gravel giving it a long dry finish. Should pair with our Neapolitan marinara pizza and pasta dinner tonight. Looking forward to see what another several years will add to its flavor profile. — 10 months ago

Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Red Blend 2014

Now I see how this wine can be so divisive. LOTS of brett at first, more band-aid than barnyard. Takes a while to get past it and then lots of exotic spices show up. But after 40 minutes in the glass still nothing primary. It’s got the funk I can appreciate in some good left bank Bordeaux but also feels somewhat single-threaded. — 3 years ago
