Rosso Del Colle

Paolo Bea

Rosso de Véo Umbria Rosso Sagrantino 2015

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with fairly significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black and red fruits: black cherry, mixed bramble berries, spices, horse blanket, espresso…powerful. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and wild. Whoa, the structure is significant. Drink now and through 2040. Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2022

Very giving for a 22. All the ingredients there, freshness and acidity. If you’re going for this style wine, at $75, this is a winner. — 13 days ago

Uvaggio Coste della Sesia Rosso Nebbiolo Blend 2020

JKT
9.1

At Moore Brothers tasting of Piemonte with Fung and Mary 1/25/25. Unusual blend with fruit from high up by the foothills of Alps but microclimate warm enough for palm trees. A rather rich and round texture and wouldn’t have guessed Nebbiolo. — a month ago

Azienda Agricola Le Ragnaie

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2021

2021 vintage. Medium-heavy body. Chunky with moments of clarity and moments of chaos. When it rolls in at the resto price waay under $30, compelled to pick up 4 cases. A fave Italian producer and this does nothing to dispel those feelings. 01.15.25. — a month ago

Giuseppe Quintarelli

Rosso del Bepi Veneto Corvina Blend 1994

Brought to dinner, opened and poured into a decanter just prior to service; enjoyed over the course of 90min. This was my last bottle of the 1994 Rosso del Bepi and I found it to be similarly sensational to the previous bottle that was enjoyed a couple years prior. The wine pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with a mix of ripe, tart and desiccated black fruit: brambles, pomegranate, Montmorency cherry, plums, spiced meat, ginger, old leather, dried flowers and just a kiss of VA. On the palate, the wine is dry (technically) though there’s some obvious residual sugar; medium tannin (integrated) and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. This finish is long. As I stated earlier, another outstanding showing. Drink now through 2030. — 23 days ago
