Such a terrific Weissburgunder. The Z man strikes again. Nose is a bit quiet off the bat. Maybe it’s a bit cold. But there is apple, mineral and some smoke. I’ll update once it gets a bit warmer. Palate is just immaculate. Ripe and rich but so precise and the limestone tingles throughout. Nose starting to get fresh cut almond slices. Such a great combo of ripe and round juxtaposed with intense jagged limestone and terrific acid structure. Such a serious wine. I sell for like $25. Just an absurd value here. Really concentrated, complex and structured. Tonight this reminds me of the 18 Brisset Cuvee Cassaneas. Out of this world. Nose has such an insane stank after 20 minutes and warning up. Sweet spices. Ocean air. Salt. This is a stunning wine. — 3 years ago
Tonight we opened the 2014 Sancerre Henri Bougeois Les Jeunes Vignes Rosé. From the Loire Valley Chavignol, France and 100% Pinot Noir.
On the nose is cherry, strawberry, melon, orange slices, saline and minerality.
On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, red grapefruit, wild strawberries, salinity and minerality.
This wine is medium bodied with a smooth elegant and fresh mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity with a long red fruit mineral finish. Our lives have been wrought with stress, worry and hardship over the last 2 years and we have seen friends and loved ones pass away. Be strong, stay positive and this shall pass. Love your family and friends and have strength in that we will all make it though this. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 3 years ago
A chewy fruity Cabernet Sauvignon. Heavy body and lingering finish. Paired perfectly with my steak at the Golden Ox in Kansas City. — 2 years ago
And now for a golden oldie! Borders on baked golden apple, poire William notes, green apple slices, and even green apple hard candy. Green pear in a pineapple wash, orange bread, pear tart, dinner roll with orange marmalade. Half-dried lemon juices spiral down pile of acid and minerality. Shows it’s age in all other ways, but acid remains unbroken. Baked crab apple, radish fringe, baked grapefruit but just browned, sour mandarins, lemon and lime piths pull it back to its sinew. Really amazing wine. Endless citrus finish.

100% Grenache. Warm slices, ripe strawberry, garrigue, and a touch of VA. Dry, mineral driven with a little CdP back end warmth. All the Provence herbs and strawberry fruit is here. No rush on this, loads of structure still there. — 3 years ago
Opens up with time… perfumed yellow flowers, dried orange slices, nutmeg and hazelnut, with sublet clove and cardamon. Viscous on the palate. Apricot and yellow peach. Zesty citrus and dried fruit character lingers with medium acid. Classic representation of the region. 50% Marsanne 50% Rousanne — 3 years ago
Complex & heavenly nose! Lifted & floral with med + intensity, dark ripe cherry & cranberry, clove, fresh crushed herbs especially thyme, grilled mushrooms & forest floor, red licorice, charcuterie. A touch of VA but inoffensive. Still plenty of fruit & vibrance on the palate: Med + body, high alcohol, hint of medical cherry (I don't mind it), tart cranberry, licorice, savoury & earthy w undertones of baking slices: cinnamon, clove & nutmeg, well integrated med tannins, med + acid, med + finish... Not a compromised/oxidized bottle like our prior, we're doing great tonight! Ripe white peach and cooled yellow apple slices .🤤
Paired to duck confit (D'Artagnan) over green/red lentils with a hit of Dijon mustard to get the acid balance to perfection. — a year ago
