Château Clos L'Eglise

Pomerol Merlot - Cabernet Franc Blend 1998

A beautiful wine in every way! Garnet in color, with medium (+) intensity of aromas and flavors including potpourri, fig, plum sauce, cassis, violet, licorice, pencil shavings, cedar, clove, anise, leather, sweet tobacco, bell pepper, cardamom, forest floor… medium acidity, medium (+) tannins that are soft and fine-grained, medium alcohol and a long elegant finish. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 — a month ago

@David T This wine was in a very beautiful and settled place. It had complexity for days. We really enjoyed it. This decanter is our friend’s — it’s stunning! We’d love to get one ourselves. Cheers! 🥂

Penfolds

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2021

Deep purple , thin pink rim . Quite perfumed , floral , mint , herbaceous character , cassis and blackberry . Quite rich with sweet dark fruits on the palate , plum , cherry , blueberry , blackberry . Balanced acidity and spicy dark fruited finish , slightly meaty , medium length finish . This is needs time in order to round out the tannins , better in 5 years and will last well a further 10-15. — 3 months ago

Château Lafite Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1983

Medium deep garnet , wider terracotta rim . Slightly more rounded , red plum , cranberry, iris, touch of menthol , anis , with sous bois and smoky, herbal touches. On the palate quite delicate , more red sous bois fruited , pretty and saline , slightly meaty notes also . Balanced quite fresh acidity , resolved tannin . Ok length , quite delicate sous bois, grafite tinged finish. This is at the end of its drinking window , though still showing well . Now and over the next 5 years . Quite charming and delicate overall , more aromatic , less austere than the other vintages. — 24 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1999

Medium ruby , quite wide garnet , terracotta rim . Quite spiced tobacco , red focused sous bois , warm spice , coffee and cacao , a little foursquare , rustic perhaps . On the palate better , quite juicy and rounded , spiced red plum , dark cherry , dry spice . This becomes more saline with time in the glass, balanced acidity and some slightly gritty tannins. This is probably in the middle of its drinking window , and will remain here over the next 5-10 years perhaps. Within the context of Haut Brion , this perhaps is just a little below par . — 2 months ago

Deep ruby coloration. No translucency. On the nose, blackberry, black cherry, plum, leather and florals. On the palate, complex and layered, with strong minerality, florals, spice, black cherry, plum and black berry with long finish of fruit and florals. Full bodied and balanced tannins. — 3 months ago

Clos des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2001

2001 vintage. Nice fill and great cork. Opened and decanted. Expected sed but fairly minimal compared to a Cabernet-based wine. Beguiling nose. Light-medium body that had dropped any extra fat long ago. Spiced plum definitely afoot. Tasted after 15 mins open, 1 hour open, 1.5 hrs open and 8 hrs open. Remarkably consistent. Likely another half-decade at this plateau before dropping down. 10.16.24. — a month ago

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2001

The 2001 Opus One is a masterful blend that truly embodies the elegance and structure of Napa Valley wines. The deep ruby color is immediately captivating, and the nose opens with rich aromas of black currant, dark cherries, and subtle hints of tobacco and cedar. On the palate, it delivers an impeccably balanced experience, with layers of ripe blackberry, plum, and a touch of dark chocolate, all interwoven with earthy undertones and a refined minerality. — 2 months ago

Ridge Vineyards

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2019

Made for a nice strong wine for Magic: The Gathering night. Aromas of plum, blackberry and dark chocolate. Strong, lingering dark fruit, chalky minerality and cocoa. This one needs to breathe a bit.
