Chaillot Cornas Syrah 2015

Another great one from the master! Consistent with my prior notes — 10 hours ago

Cornas Syrah 1990

Lovely aromatics of earth, smoke and redfruits, very solid core of dried red berry and super savory flavors, still great balancing acidity, a little less of the rustic notes in this one compared to the 1985 Verset from last Saturday, long, lingering finish, another great Verset Cornas!! — a month ago

Cornas Reynard (R) Syrah 2008

Another great one from the master that has an elegant, silky mouthfeel showing red & black fruit, savory spice with notes of glycerin, pepper, olive, blood & violets — 2 months ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Saint-Joseph Syrah

Depth and concentration, this bottle is an ode to south saint joseph wines, with great balance and complexity. To achieve a better grade I need more finesse, but the vintages is also like that — 2 months ago

Domaine Jamet

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 1999

Explosive nose of black cherry, smoke, bacon fat, savory spices, dried herbs & violets. Great vintage for Jamet that is reaching full maturity — 22 days ago

La Turque Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2013

Tasting the 2013 La Las this was the weakest of the three. A good wine but not great and lacking in wow factor. Probably too young but more bla bla than la la at the moment. — 2 months ago

Domaine Jean-Claude Marsanne

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2019

2019 vintage. As rustic as ever. Blood. Earth. Plum. Stems. Heavy body. A step or two above a solid workhorse but not flighty. Tremendous punch. Could be wrong but think this producer only does Saint Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage and both are great QPR. 10.30.24. — 3 months ago

So overlooked and it’s maybe the most classic old school St Jo since Trollat. And way better.

@Lyle Fass Love this producer. Obscenely underpriced and that is not something I can say often enough.
