La Ca’Növa is now under fifth generation leadership; they used to sell all their fruit to Gaja. Super traditional methods with a twist; they used botti made of Austrian oak instead of Salvonian. Vigna Bric Mentina is a sub cru of the Montefico MGA where the soils are relatively sandy.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The 2015 “Vigna Bric Mentina” pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe Morello cherry, raspberry, strawberry, roses with freshly cut stems, cedar chest, dried herbs and gravelly earth and minerals. There’s also a kiss of VA, just in case you needed a reminder that this is a traditional Italian wine, lol! On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly savory. This is absolutely baller. How did I sleep on this producer for so long? Oh yeah…I remember: access. I live in Omaha. Welp…now I have another producer to chase. Drink now with patience (enjoy the ride!) and through 2045. — 3 months ago
Colour is very pale with just the lightest hint of coral pink. It’s off-dry with lots of ripe tropical fruits on the noise and palate - cantaloupe, peach, and a hint of floral. It’s a very interesting blend of grapes. — 5 months ago
Good fruit and body similar to a reason but not quite as acidic. No idea what the grapes are. another reasonably priced Nova Scotia Wine at less than $20. — 9 months ago
Great carbonation and perfect level of tartness. — 6 years ago
Medium high acidity, grippy tannins. Nose of dry flowers, dust. Palate is austere, with some red fruit, tar, sour coffee — 21 days ago
2023 vintage, well balanced, medium acidity, heavy aromas of plum and blackberry on the nose, with almost a faint hint candied sweetness at the end. Slightly chewy on the initial opening, but after 30 minutes it opened up nicely. Interesting color and tone for a Napa Cab. Very enjoyable, highly recommend for the cost. — 3 months ago
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Deep purple in color with a reddish rim.
Beautiful nose of black plums, black cherries, red currants, light cedar, coffee, light earth, herbs, light vegetables and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Very dry on the palate with black plums, black currants, coffee, oak, light cloves, earth, tobacco leaf, bitter herbs, peppercorn, light licorice and green tea.
Tangy finish with fine grain tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Merlot from Napa valley. Showing nice complexity with an elegant mouthfeel.
Needed 2 hours in a decanter to open up.
This 8-year-old Merlot is still drinking beautifully. Lost some of its fruits, and it is very dry now.
Drinking at its peak, and will not get any better from here. Really loved the nose at this point.
Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with barbecue meats or burgers. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
14.4% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Nice nose! Bright ruby color! Big flavor yet balanced! Subtle chocolate in this one. Very good. Tasty tasty. For those about to rock💥 — 3 years ago
Ripe & fruit forward with dark cherry & blackberry and a whiff of Mediterranean herbs.
Rich yet very fresh & balanced on the palate with beautifully polished & juicy tannins and a perfect balance between the sweet fruit and sappy acidity.
This is a nice one - richer & heavier yet very drinkable at the same time.
Excellent match with grilled meat. — 5 years ago
2021 vintage. Last tasted 1.9.25 (9.3). Did indeed pick up extra for the resto and down to 1-2 bottles left. PNP. Still beyond solid for the price. It you find this vintage retail and it is $50 or below, you'd better pick it up or I'll call the federales/gendarmes/polizia/po po myself. — 3 months ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Three vineyard blend, Ruby color with a aromas of red fruit, earthy herbs, cedar and floral notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with notes of herb pepper, floral and earthy notes. Medium+ finish, good balance with fine tannins ending with cacao, leather, fruit and earthy notes. Ok now but a few more years will benefit. — 24 days ago
