If there is one thing constant about every Lopez de Heredia Blanco that I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying, it’s that they are never boring. The 2006 delivers on that with notes of dates, dried apricot, German candied nuts, marshmallows, cumin, dill and toasted coconut. Dry with fantastic acid and the texture is waxy. Plum, cocoa, raspberry, and subtle dust on the nose. Rich, yet dry. Notes of cocoa powder, ash, dried raspberry, unsweet dark chocolate, blackberry, subtle cranberry, tar, & earth. Nose is of cherry with oak, a hint of smoke and fresh dill. Smooth with a dry finish, quite acidic, oak out the wazoo and a intense spicy kick to finish. Beautiful deep ruby colour. I would expect a little more sweetness for a tempranillo. Lovely red from Espana. — 14 days ago

2014 vintage. Wowzer nose. Medium body. Full concentration during the performance. The rusticity/authenticity came through immediately. Wasn’t looking for (Spanish) love early on a Wednesday afternoon but it found me. Nice now but better after a 10-spot. 11.6.24. — 22 days ago
