Cantina Di Montalcino

Conti Costanti

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Deep garnet with a tawny rim. A savoury earthy mushroom note coming through - also balsamic notes. Fading red cherry on the palate. An excellent Brunello from a good vintage, travelling well at 15 years. A fabulous food wine with homemade fettuccine. I will probably drink my last bottle in 2027/28 although I have a drinking window through to the early 2030s. — 4 days ago

Fattoria Poggio di Sotto

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

First bottle of a half case we bought at the domaine in 2021. Definitely will be better in a few years but nice to try one on the earlier side. What they say is true - this is really easily Brunello level. At this point the nose isn’t giving a ton, but there is great depth of fruit and earth on the palate. This hits in several more parts of the mouth than most wines and the finish goes on for quite a while. Medium plus tannins and acid which should balance out a bit with some more age.

Opened the bottle 5 hours prior to service and then decanted for 2. Real candidate to be 9.5+ in a few years.

Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2000

I bought 12 bottles of this for 13 euros a bottle back in 2004. The, the last, may be the best one I’ve opened. Surprisingly. — 20 days ago

Canalicchio di Sopra

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2007

We had the 2007 on 9/14-15/25. A terrific aged Brunello. This had all the expected scents and tastes of a great Brunello. Black cherry, raspberry, leather, lavender and rose petals. Medium bodied and Old World. Tannins all smoothed out. — 19 days ago

That whole spread looks great! I'm decanting a Brunello at the moment. Getting impatient 😅

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Fantastic. A southeast brunello. Immediately dark cherry, touches of plums, spice, and the acidity and tannins integrated well. As it decanted, the tannins soften drastically with the acidity slightly overpowering, but nevertheless, the fruit stayed and lingered til the end. — 11 days ago

Casanova di Neri

Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2020

This is an old friend. An old experience I've had before but different. Younger, with more time needed to open but as the wine changes and evolves, its reminiscent to those brunellos of the past. This may not be the most ideal brunello year but it definitely satisfies the experience. Sometimes i wonder if any brunello will come close to those brunellos I had in the past but as the time passes, things evolve and change and maybe youll get glimmers of those brunellos but nothing exact. Well this is the first brunello of this decade of 2020, so we will see what the future holds! Definitely worth another try but after its aged a few months or years. Good nonetheless. — 18 days ago
