2023 vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Merlot (30%), Cabernet Franc (5,5%), and Petit Verdot (3,5%). Very seductive nose with cassis, blackberries, and a panoply of flowers, intertwined with the most delicate touch of oak. This is the second wine produced in the new stunning cellar, and the purity of the fruit is exemplary. While it doesn't lack power, it is also amazingly delicate. It may not have the weight on the mid palate of the 2022, but the finish is particularly impressive. The length is incredible. This can be enjoyed already, but it will age gracefully. Moreover, it is a bargain for the quality. Abv. 13%. — a month ago

2003 vintage. *Full disclosure* Not the biggest Pavie fan as I've consistently found it underwhelming for the commanding pricing and eternally in need of yet "another hour" in a decanter. Great fill and opened with a Durand but feel that the cork (in great shape) would have come out decently easy with a standard wine key. Given my issues with Pavie in the past, brought over two decanters so as to agitate the wine between them four times. Initial pass, good amount of sediment with the vast majority of it caked onto the sides of the bottle. Yay! Great boysenberry/raspberry nose noted during the first decant. Tasted after two hours. Medium body. Some earth, the aforementioned berries and hints of rich chocolate cake, including frosting, on the scene. Despite all the lavished attention and fuss, still suspect this would show better twelve hours later at breakfast with waffles and Count Chocula cereal. Better with the Rib-cap. The 08 vintage was spotty to good. This one shows the shortcomings of the 08 vintage. Really good fruit, but lacks typical, depth, mid palate, and length.

The nose is class Bordeaux.Ripe to ruby fruits of, black plum skin, slightly syrupy blackberries, plum, dark cherry liqueur, strawberries, dark currants. Dark chocolate cake with glaze, screaming, lead pencil shavings, tobacco, leather, dry riverstone, limestone marl, forest floor with dry leaves, soft, incense, black, licorice, red, cola, dry herbs, tomato, leaf, with dark and red flowers, framed in violets.

The palate is ripe to ruby fruits of, black plum skin, slightly syrupy blackberries, plum, dark cherry liqueur, strawberries, dark currants. Dark chocolate cake with glaze, screaming, lead pencil shavings, deep, dark spice that expands wide, nutmeg, cinnamon stick, caramel and vanillin, dry tobacco with ash, leather, dry riverstone, limestone marl, dry crushed rocks, forest floor with dry leaves, moist clays, soft, incense, black, licorice, red, cola, savory dry herbs, tomato leaf, dry oak barrel shaving to cedar with dark and red flowers, framed in violets, acidity is ok, just not right, finish is good, not great, it falls hard on spice and is short of a minute.
