If I could use just one word? Intense! Still tight but the layers of dark fruit are starting to shine through the angular, lead pencil soaked tannins. Everything is super balanced and leads you to a grippy, lingering finish. Drinking it right here in the Idaho Mountains! What a life. Oh, talking about Idaho. It finally got on the map of Wine Folly! Crisp, apples. Refreshing — 9 months ago
Expected inky purple-black color in glass. Opens up earnestly after uncorking and a few days in the wine fridge. Blackberry and plummy fruit on the nose, drinks the same with dialed-back acidity and soft tannins on the finish. While it’s not a full-on #napavalley fruit bomb, it’s wanting for complexity - too one-dimensional for my taste. — a month ago
Opened around 8pm the evening prior, double decanted and left in room temperature until service on Friday evening. In total, this was opened 24hours before service. The 1995 pours a beautiful garnet with transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate stating of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with surprisingly boozy dark fruit. Brambles, cassis, bell pepper, licorice, spearmint and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long with great acidity. Overall, remarkably youthful. While it’s certainly ready to go, it will likely continue some positive evolution over the next couple of decades. Drink now with a long decant through 2045. — 5 months ago
Perfect Italian Sauvignon. Not too acidic and plenty of stone fruit giving it a wonderfully rounded profile — 7 months ago
Lime and gooseberries, slightly bitter finish. Not too exciting - was paired with a hamachi crudo but may have been better off with a NZ sauce blanc. — 4 months ago
Nose - quite shy, but unmistakably Riesling - not dissimilar to a warmer region like the Rheinhessen. Mineral and herbaceous at the moment, with the fruit very much a supporting act. What great potential!
Palate - huge concentration, especially on day two! Saline, tart, like an incredibly fresh lime dressed with salt - am I drinking tequila? Also so herbaceous and floral, with hints of lavender and even blue fruits.
More reserved than the powerful, fabulous 2019, but possessing a similar level of clarity in both the nose and palate, with tremendous salinity, impressive structure and a long finish. It feels a touch early to be drinking this - even with a decant - so I look forward to breaching this case again in a few years’ time.

First time in a long time trying Grüner Veltliner! I found this wine quite hard to get into, possibly because of unfamiliarity, or perhaps the style of wine? There’s no denying this is pretty fantastic stuff, herbaceous and mineral with great salinity and juiciness on the palate. It’s super concentrated, full-bodied and really quite youthful – I just think it might not be my cup of tea! Still, I’ll hold on to the remaining bottles I have and try another in a few years’ time. (Late amendment to this note: this wine came into its own with a simple dish of sea bass & lemon - definitely a wine for food!) — 6 months ago

Medium ruby garnet , garnet terracotta rim. Slightly sweet , roasted nose, with chestnut some sous bois , grafite , slight seaside hints. After a while a touch more herbal. On the palate quite stern dark fruits , mineral , grafite notes , quite dry tannin and ok balanced acidity . Reasonable length and sous bois , grafite tinged finish . This is still quite young though its appearance is slightly more advanced than the 1988 . Needs a decant and held up well over the 5 hours we had it open . Drink now and over the next 5-10 years. A little pedestrian overall and is outclassed by the superior 1988. — a month ago
