Black Label Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Black Label is a well-judged style. It is nicely textured with decent substance through its bright, firm core. Attractive gooseberry, elderflower and passion fruit flavors combine well. Five months on lees rounds out its edges and lends flesh to the light-bodied palate. $16.00 (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, May 2024) — a month ago

Te Muna Road Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Impressive NZ SB: you have to like this in your face style: huge blast of grapefruit & gooseberry, grassy herbal notes, stones & minerals, it is intense. Not too acidic or angular on palate - particularly if you let it warm up just a bit, fruit turns smoother & more tropical, but still that wall of grapefruit & gooseberry. Lingering dry finish resonates — 9 months ago

Dog Point Vineyard

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Not a huge fan of Sauvignon Blanc, but this is the opposite of chemically and gooseberry SBs. Fine, hint of citrus (not overpowering on the gooseberry) — 2 years ago

Greywacke

Wild Sauvignon Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020

So, just arrived in Australia this morning for some wine exploring, and my wife wanted a wine we could sip, so here we are drinking Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. As fine as the “regular” Greywacke SB is, this wine seems another level up, gooseberry aromas and flavors, really complex, actually reminds me of the early Cloudy Bay SBs we drank a fair amount of after visiting the Cloudy Bay winery back in 1994. — 8 months ago

Classic example of the grape , with a touch more balance than you might expect. Gooseberry and greens nose, tropical body grounded by minerality and smoke. — a year ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Light straw color with green highlights. Intense aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit. The pallet is very fruit forward with gooseberry, grapefruit and lemon. Bit of a minerally finish. Crisp acidity. Refreshing. Pretty good (typical) NZ Sauvignon Blanc. — 2 years ago
