Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

2022 vintage. Deep dark red, with purplish rim. Very attractive nose already, with cassis, blackberries, raspberries, flowers and subtle cedar.
Midweight, with layers of succulent black and red fruits and fresh acidity, embedded in a ripe tannic structure. Great length, with a distinctive mineral touch. Not sure if it is as good as the incredible 2016, but a close contender for one of the best wines ever for this estate. Abv. 13%. It totally outperforms the Croizet Bages 2022 tasted alongside.

Clos du Marquis Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend

Stunning creation from Clos du Marquis is a testament to the magnificent 2005 vintage. The wine offers an impeccable harmony of rich blackcurrant and plum aromas, intertwined with elegant notes of cedar, tobacco, and subtle spices. Its structured tannins and vibrant acidity create a perfectly balanced palate, while the long, sophisticated finish leaves a memorable impression. A truly remarkable expression of the Saint-Julien terroir that continues to evolve beautifully with time.

Château Beychevelle

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Still earthy on the nose and deep red-purple visually. After a short but vigorous decanting the tannic structure persisted to support dark fruit flavors on the palette. This wine still has many years of cellaring possible! — a month ago

Château Léoville Poyferré

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

Opened and double decanted several hours prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 1996 pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with a lovely combination of ripe and desiccated fruit: cassis, brambles, horse blanket, cigar box, old leather, earth and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Another lovely and immensely charming Poyferré. Drink now with a decant and through 2046. — 20 days ago

Vau de Vey Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2021

Sticking with the Vau de Vey alliterative format, this is very vibrant and vivacious. Extraordinarily pure ripe apple (with a nod toward peach) fruit on the nose, backed up with very clean limestoney minerality. On the palate, there’s an immediate jolt of very pure fruit, a soft, enveloping texture, and then the mineral notes kick in on the extended finish. Clearly unoaked, and with crisp, integrated acidity. Nicely done. Textbook. — a month ago
