Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90min. The 2020 pours a deep ruby/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of powerful ripe dark and blue fruits: Marionberries, figs, purple flowers, bacon fat, black olives, rocky minerals and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Young, but this is another lovely vintage of Chave Saint-Joseph. Give it time. Best after 2030 and drink through 2040+. — 18 days ago
Sour cherry, sassafras, earth, orange rind, forest floor and great acid. Very nice. — 3 days ago
Solid Napa Cab, pretty floral and chocolate notes mixed with sweet tobacco leaf, oak and dark fruit. Drank a bit young, tannins got pretty grippy and gave me a slight headache, but overall a nice wine — 19 days ago
Very nice! Drinking the 2018 in 2025. Yeasty bouquet with hints of mushroom. Very smooth finish. Very nice champagne! — 7 days ago
Nice long legs, dark purplish color hints of cherry and coco and nice balance from the American oak soften tannins but still a full body — 5 days ago
Delicate and smooth, medley of dark cherry and red fruits, bright acidity, medium tannins and very silky finish. A terrific value taking into account where it comes from. 2022 vintage is at its peak now! Paired with grilled veggies! — a month ago
