Quiet but very good nose of sour cherry, spice, flowers, a touch of reduction and something faintly like malted milk balls. The palate is where the wine lives, with huge acidity, tremendous tiny-berry concentration, real savor, density and all-red fruit. There is a Burgundy 2023-like chord progression to the fruit, with sweetness building through the mid-palate and a long, energetic finish. Powerful and impactful, almost GG-like in scale, but it lacks the finesse, polish, balance and purity of the 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Very good, but not one of the great vintages. — 8 days ago

Austere, almost fruitless nose of dry limestone and intense mineral. The palate is far more generous, with juicy concentration, apricot, peach pit and terrific texture, all cut by huge acidity. Love the tension between the severe mineral exterior and the ripe fruit underneath. Finishes a little short, but this is serious, delicious and completely on the Kalkstein line. — 13 days ago

After drinking mainly Bordeaux and Rioja over the christmas period this was much lighter. Nose of cherries, raspberries, tar and orange peel. Palate was similar but needed more air to catch up. Elegant and balanced. Paired excellently with roast duck legs, orange sauce and roast potatoes. — 7 months ago

Lovely pithy fruits on the nose. Apricot, nectarine and stunning, wafting minerality. Palate is rich, Rheinhessen rich, but with bracing acidity and just such a generous texture. Last drank 4 mo ago; aromas on this bottle are more intense than my previous notes. Lots of sappy red fruit, dark rose, and a lot of violets. Palate also sappy, with tart acid. Really a fantastic value at around 20 USD. Bought a case; will go well with Thanksgiving dinner. — 10 months ago
