Paso Port

W. & J. Graham's

Vintage Port Blend 1977

[8 hour decant] This shows some cinnamon spice notes on the palate, aromas are pretty muted, maybe some faint nutmeg, decent weight, this ‘77 Grahams has always been an enigma for me (though never on the level of ‘77 Fonseca or Taylor) through 8-10 bottles over the years, this being one of the better bottles, pretty good! — 7 days ago

Tablas Creek Vineyard

Esprit de Tablas Mourvedre Blend 2022

LUNCH WINE

Reddish in color with medium intensity.

Red fruits on the nose with light oak, tobacco leaf, Indian spices and herbs.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, plums, black currants, coffee, oak, licorice, light earth, herbs, peppercorn, garrigue, dark chocolates and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very unique Rhone blend from Paso Robles. Has a Châteauneuf-du-Pape feel to it.

Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and interesting.

Very tasty and easy drinking right out of the bottle. Tannins show up after 2 hours in the decanter.

Still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Has good potential to become a 93+ point wine.

I paired it with grilled Picanha.

A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 4% Vaccarese, 3% Counoise and 3% Cinsault.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Fonseca

Vintage Port Blend 2007

9.5

Given my "too early" assessment in 2021, I decanted this bottle 6 hours in advance. Beautiful nose of purple fruit / violets. Early drinking window. Good balance. Not spectacular but solid. For my palate this will be the best in the coming 5-10 years when the fruit is still notably present. — 11 days ago

Deep purple color. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cassis and licorice. Loads of black fruit on the palate, cigar box and earthy finish. Very nice double magnum.

The Fonseca bottle was gone in no time so we opened another 2007 from my cellar.I love the more feminine, elegant, ethereal style of Taylor's . Excellent bottle. Violets galore — 11 days ago
