Pessac Léognan, Graves

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Le Petit Haut Lafitte Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Estate dates back to Crusades & Scottish navigator, George Smith, owner in the 18th century. Blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot aged in 20% new oak, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry, herbs and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of plum, cherry & currant with notes of pepper, tobacco & cacao notes. Soft rich full tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earthy and mineral character, needs a little more time. — a day ago

Chateau Latour-Martillac

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Pretty deep . Quite earthy , blueberry , blackcurrant , spicy cassis . Good volume , sweet fruit , cassis , spicy blueberry . Ok acidity , quite grippy but ripe tannins . Ok length . Still quite young, will benefit for more time in the cellar . From now and over the next 10 years or so . A good example from this chateau. — 2 months ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

First pull of a 2019 Bordeaux. Not in a bad place with an 8 hour open period (no decant). Very “dark Michigan cherry” according to my wife who has spent a lot of time in Michigan. Great pairing with a variety of grilled meats - lamb, pork, and steak. — a month ago

Drinking in 2024. Exceptional balance with a nice nose of blackberry and salt. Spice, full but fine tannins on the palate. Moderate length finish that is a bit confused. Let it open up for least 30 mins. — a month ago
