Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

Richebourg Pinot Noir 2009

Slightly deeper more ruby , wide rim but brighter and redder , less garnet than the RSV . Younger looking certainly . Deeper , spicier with darker fruits on the nose , some blackberry , dark cherry , exotic spices , pomegranate tea , violets , quite exuberant and dashing . On the palate this is denser and richer , deeper more velvety fruits , dark cherry , blackberry , spice and rounded but noticeable tannin . Balanced acidity. Quite gritty finish, darker and richer , long suave dark fruit finish . Really quite primary still, though with more time this does show some more wet slate and mineral side. This grows in the glass becoming more expressive and complex , showing something new each time you come back to the glass . Enjoyable due to the richness of fruit , but probably deserves more time , very promising however , the richness and decadence of 2009 seems to suit Richebourg . Better in 5 years and will last well a further decade if not more . — a month ago

Looks like a great burgundy dinner.

Château Larcis Ducasse

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

In the nose this Château Larcis Ducasse 2009 offers an inviting and complex bouquet. Primary aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries are prominent. These are complemented by secondary notes of cedar, tobacco, and a hint of graphite. As the wine opens up, it reveals layers of truffle, leather, and sweet spices such as cinnamon and cloves. This simply is a great nose

In the mouth the palate is rich, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced. The wine displays an impressive structure with silky, well-integrated tannins. Flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and black cherry dominate, supported by nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, and earthy undertones. This is a real treat because it’s so easy drinking.

The finish is long, smooth, and elegant, lingering with notes of dark fruit, vanilla, and a touch of smokiness.

Overall this wine is an exemplary wine from Saint-Émilion, showcasing the best characteristics of the vintage and type of wine, mine kind of a wine 😋. It is a wine of depth, complexity, and refinement, so no regrets here 💪.

Fine description 👌

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Nice bottle and just starting to unfurl with lots of fruit, cassis, leather, tobacco and well integrated tannins. Nice primary and secondary dark fruits with classic St. Julien scent. Still feels like it will benefit from more time. — 5 years ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

So seamless and delicious. We had 3 forty year olds at dinner so this was a birth year wine for the majority of our dinner. Last had a couple years ago, and this remains very good. Not primary, but also wouldn’t guess 40 years old. Really nice pairing with a roast leg of lamb on Christmas. — 5 months ago

Domaine Auguste Clape

Cornas Syrah 2009

En mag. So young, still. Even more primary than the 07 from 750 two days ago. Clove, cardamom, dusty cocoa and medium tannin. — a year ago

Very linear and primary still but opening up nicely with a rare purity and supple tannins. Good stuff. — 3 years ago

Krug

Brut Champagne Blend 1989

A crescendo of aromas leap from the glass. Vibrant and energetic palate, still quite youthful! It’s so complex, expressive and layered with the perfect balance of primary and secondary characteristics. A gastronomic Champagne that is in a perfect place. — 5 years ago

Lagier Meredith

Mount Veeder Syrah 2007

Intense dark fruits, black pepper, mineral as well, still quite primary and very structured, balanced with a very long, lingering finish, but based upon how unevolved this is at age 18, I’d wait until this is 25-30 years from the vintage to drink, really great potential!! — 8 months ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Expressive and primary. Displaying some of the green/pyrazine/cedar side, but in check with loads of dark red fruit. Needless to say, young. — 9 months ago

Just FYI, I’m listed as following you but I am not seeing your posts in my feed. I saw these in “Trending.” Yet another weird glitch in this app.

@Tom Casagrande it needs a lot of work. I’ll have wines pop up in my feed weeks after they were posted.

Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Red Blend 2014

Now I see how this wine can be so divisive. LOTS of brett at first, more band-aid than barnyard. Takes a while to get past it and then lots of exotic spices show up. But after 40 minutes in the glass still nothing primary. It’s got the funk I can appreciate in some good left bank Bordeaux but also feels somewhat single-threaded. — 5 years ago
