In the nose this Château Larcis Ducasse 2009 offers an inviting and complex bouquet. Primary aromas of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries are prominent. These are complemented by secondary notes of cedar, tobacco, and a hint of graphite. As the wine opens up, it reveals layers of truffle, leather, and sweet spices such as cinnamon and cloves. This simply is a great nose
In the mouth the palate is rich, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced. The wine displays an impressive structure with silky, well-integrated tannins. Flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and black cherry dominate, supported by nuances of dark chocolate, espresso, and earthy undertones. This is a real treat because it’s so easy drinking.
The finish is long, smooth, and elegant, lingering with notes of dark fruit, vanilla, and a touch of smokiness.
Overall this wine is an exemplary wine from Saint-Émilion, showcasing the best characteristics of the vintage and type of wine, mine kind of a wine 😋. It is a wine of depth, complexity, and refinement, so no regrets here 💪. — 7 months ago
Airy, almost weightless, yet many aromas and flavors. Pronounced Floral, herbal nose with green and spice hints, clean red fruit palate with raspberry, some cherry, a mineral spine, long finish. Young, all primary, no earth. Will be interesting to see if this adds volume, though for me, I’m very good with where this sits today. — 3 years ago
With 20 years of age this wine has evolved. The primary fruit has moved to deep dried versions of cherry blackberry and fig side by side with earth tar leather cedar bitter cocoa and tobacco. The nose is extremely pronounced and the tannins now soft. It was worth keeping these 2 decades. — 7 months ago
Now I see how this wine can be so divisive. LOTS of brett at first, more band-aid than barnyard. Takes a while to get past it and then lots of exotic spices show up. But after 40 minutes in the glass still nothing primary. It’s got the funk I can appreciate in some good left bank Bordeaux but also feels somewhat single-threaded. — 3 years ago
A crescendo of aromas leap from the glass. Vibrant and energetic palate, still quite youthful! It’s so complex, expressive and layered with the perfect balance of primary and secondary characteristics. A gastronomic Champagne that is in a perfect place. — 4 years ago

Youthful & mostly primary that you can approach now with its dark cherry, berry fruits, lots of spice, underbrush, meat & violet — 2 months ago
