Rosso de Véo Umbria Rosso Sagrantino 2015

stylistically not for me but glad it was poured. lots of christmas spices, black fruit and prickly tannins. big, boisterous bastard but still, wore the 15% quite elegantly if i do say so myself. — 16 days ago

Proprieta Sperino

Uvaggio Coste della Sesia Rosso Nebbiolo Blend 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course two hours. The 2019 “Uvaggio”pours, a bright garnet color with a transparent core, moving to a rose colored rim. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, strawberry, raspberry, pink roses, talcum powder, a smell that reminds me of the produce section in a grocery store of a developing country (yeah, it’s specific but, fight me), dried green herbs, and stony earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is long, juicy and a touch spicy with a bit of black pepper that I find quite intriguing. A delicious pairing with lamb/beef kofta. All in all, another brilliant vintage of “Uvaggio” and further proof that the work of Luca DeMarchi at Proprieta Sperino is worthy of serious attention. Drink now through 2034. — an hour ago

Allegracore Etna Rosso DOC Nerello Mascalese-Nerello Cappuccio Blend 2007

You’ve got to be kidding me. A 2007 Salvo Foti wine. A museum piece. Wonderful Etna Rosso minerals, herbs, deep red fruit. Thank you Alex, for finding and gifting it. — 10 days ago

Fattoria Poggio di Sotto

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Juicy and vibrant. Red/dark fruit dominate but there is also earthy flavours and the unmistakeable old world musty library book thing. Silky. Firm but well integrated tannins and high acidity. Great food wine. Better in 5 years. — 19 days ago

Bricco delle Viole Barolo Nebbiolo 2020

Light reddish in color with light intensity, and fresh red fruits on the nose.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing red currants, cherries, strawberries light wood, spices, coffee and dark chocolates.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Barolo. Still very young and needs time to mature properly.

Elegant and rich. Fresh, easy drinking, and already enjoyable, even by itself. Showing nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Needs time to open up properly, so be patient. Good by itself or with food.

Would be nice to revisit it in 10 years.

100% Nebbiolo grapes were grown at 1,200 feet of elevation. Vines are 40 to 90 year old vines. Aged for 42 months in large Slavonian wood barrels.

14% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$120.
