Nicely concentrated Sicilian red, with muscular tannins backed by deep and dark fruit with somewhat sharp acidity. Reminds me of a young California Central Coast red blend. Nice pairing with red sauce pasta but probably better after four or five years of softening in the bottle. Had the 2023 vintage with Paccheri Lisci (spicy pork sausage sugo, fennel, sage, pecorino) from Jame Enoteca in El Segundo, CA. — 2 months ago
Very nice as noted previously, it’s got that Nebbiolo weight that floats. — 2 months ago
First bottle of a half case we bought at the domaine in 2021. Definitely will be better in a few years but nice to try one on the earlier side. What they say is true - this is really easily Brunello level. At this point the nose isn’t giving a ton, but there is great depth of fruit and earth on the palate. This hits in several more parts of the mouth than most wines and the finish goes on for quite a while. Medium plus tannins and acid which should balance out a bit with some more age.
Opened the bottle 5 hours prior to service and then decanted for 2. Real candidate to be 9.5+ in a few years. — a month ago
Popped in poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2019 Bricco delle Viole pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely ripe notes of Morello cherry, raspberry, roses, tar, talcum powder, dried herbs and dry gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Typically, I feel as though Vaira’s wines need significant time in the cellar however, this is one of the finer examples of a young Vajra that I have had in a long time. Drink now with patience through 2049. — 2 months ago

Dark and savory, not your fruit forward RdM — a month ago
This is a very punchy, rich wine, likely a blend of Sangiovese with some bordeaux cépages like Cabernet. Actually works very well with rich food and has enough acidity and balance. Not our prime stuff in style but honestly was really good. — 2 months ago
