Louis Roederer

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2006

Medium yellow , touch of gold . Fine bubbles , though not a lot noticable in our wine glasses . Bit of development with brioche , orange rind , mocha , touch of honeysuckle and crushed stones . On the palate this is fine boned , elegant, lemon rind , baked pastry , fine chalky notes . Quite high grippy acidity , this is linear and quite direct in style , but enough volume on the palate to cover its bones . Good medium length mineral and crystallised lemon pith charged finish . This is drinking well now but will probably last well over the next 5-10 years. — 2 months ago

Château Rieussec

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2005

Deep gold in color. Lower acidity than expected. Lots of white stone fruit and sweetness with some biscuit on the palette. Great complement to Brie. For the vintage and the producer a little underwhelming. — 2 years ago

Joh. Jos. Prüm

Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Riesling 1990

Medium gold, lighter than the GK bottle next to it. Heavy in the glass. More powerful nose than the GK with a strong core of acidity. Notes of apricot, spice and some almond paste. Really nice, and for me the better wine tonight next to the 90 WSA Goldkap next to it. — 3 years ago

Dom Pérignon

Brut Champagne Blend 1996

Medium lemon , hints of gold , quite a healthy colour with fine pretty persistent bubbles still . This quite intense with candied lemon peel , brioche , oyster shells , touch of porcini . On the palate this is intense ,with good volume and vibrant acidity. Buttered brioche , oyster shell , candied orange and lemon peel . Really quite lovely and intense , long and toasted brioche , chalky finish . This is at peak now , but no rush from here over the next 5 perhaps 10 years . — 3 days ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Crognolo Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2019

In the heart of the Chianti lies Estate of Sette Ponti, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past village of San Giustino Valdarno. Has 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques, deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with blossom notes, spice and fine integrated tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Nice! Will age a bit! Tasting well now! — 9 months ago

Shafer Vineyards

Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay 2022

Lemon gold color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits with citrus, sweet floral and complex spice, no MLF. On the palate flavors of ripe melon, pineapple, apricot and honeysuckle notes with lemon zest and biscuit notes, delicate, complex and well balanced, big and full Chardonnay. Long finish, savory, ending with mineral tones and fresh finish. Will age well. Outstanding! While I usually do not decant whites, this one will benefit to breathe a bit! — 2 months ago

Stony Hill

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2008

Pop and pour. A striking medium gold color. On the nose: wonderful aeromatics of apple, honeycomb, floral, lemon, almonds. Taste: lean, waxy, balanced mouthcoating wine with tart apple, saline, lemon rind, crushed stone, and a minerally orange peel lingering finish. YUM! Should have more time to go. — 6 months ago

More of a summer wine, but drinking great tonight. Also, if you’re a beer lover this wine might be for you. Cloudy, gold/orange color. You can smell the tartness on the nose, and if blindfolded might even think it’s a vibrant red. Sour fruit and wood on the palate. Medium plus depth and finish. Love the uniqueness and complexity!! — 2 years ago
