Halenberg GG Riesling 2021

This feels a step behind the 2020 but is an excellent reminder of the value presented by great dry riesling. This wine is hard to find and rightly so….its a massive and ripe Riesling in a full body style. This wine to me was teetering the on the edge of over ripeness, but nonetheless had wonderful tropical and honeyed fruits. The typical minerality was present, but that took a back seat. My only critique is that it lacked a little focus and some of the linearity I’ve experienced with other vintages from this producer. Much much better on day 2 - this has a long life ahead. Equal to or greater in drinking experience than white burgundy 2-3x the price (albeit a different experience) — 21 days ago

Powerful and mineral with huge levels of dry extract. Nose is provocative with its instant elite florallity. So dense yet elegant. Unreal elegant citrus fruit on the mineral blast of a finish. The finish is just ridiculous. Outrageous on the PNP but let’s see what air does. — 2 months ago

@Zach D for me one of the best wines of the 21 vintage and likely best dry wine Andy has ever made. Enjoy and tag me on your note.

A vibrant lemon color in the glass. On the nose a powerful yet elegant deep lemon, tangerine and other mixed citrus, white and yellow flowers, lemon blossom, jasmine. On the palate the most beautiful tangerine, lemon and yuzu citrus. The most impressive, however, is the finish. Incredibly long, and evolves to a dried lemon/citrus rind that is very unique. I wonder with age if this dried character will become more in the forefront, which makes me very excited to revisit in 3-5 years. Outlasts many GG quality wines, and many times for me when Riesling has a lengthy finish there seems to be some phenolic bitterness, but this wine is pure. A triumph, and incredible value. @Lyle Fass — 2 months ago
