Buntsandstein Pinot Noir 2017

Looked at Lyles, Matthew’s and Josh’s notes written in 2020. Needs a ton of air - about 2 hours to mellow out. Strong perfumed nose. In the glass cranberry, moss and what i call E&M black forest herbs, velvety, touch capsaicin, hint orange juice. Quite tannic. Fantastic fruit components develop over time! First cherries notes next are black currants and elderberry tones. What a trip!. NEEDS 2 hours of air. Drink now with a heavy decant and air? Yes 🙌. It is in a perfect spot despite the tannins. What a wine!!! I will drink this vintage up over the course of 24/25. — 2 days ago

Jaspis Alte Reben Gutedel 10 4 2015

Boah, what an insane wine! Called it a 1er cru Chablis in our blind, while RP called it a lieu-dit Meursault. Can’t remember what vintage I called, but definitely younger than 2015. You get the gist. So pure, saline, and powerful. — 2 months ago

1782 Klingelberger Riesling 2019

Settled in. The exuberant Riesling fruit settled down. I am not sure. Preferred this wine when young. More later. Grown on granite in Durbach a little village on the slope of the black forest. Stonefruit, hint peach, lemon. — 2 months ago

Muschelkalk Pinot Noir 2017

Addictive and absolutely stunning. Super elegant and lean when compared to the Buntsandstein from E&M. Ethereal cherry 🍒 light as air. Crushed Marble. Essentially like a Premier Cru Chambolle Musigny from the slopes of the black forest. Tannin’s fully resolved. Drink Up!!!! I would not keep this longer. From here on out it will loose its luster. — 6 hours ago

Liaison Pinot Noir 2017

A little bit of a port wine nose. Brown tinge. Seems to me as one of the more difficult vintages E&M had to care for. Round, mature, herbaceous, lime, quite earthy and acidic. I would start drinking this 2017. — 7 days ago

Weiss & Grau Burgunder Weißburgunder Grauburgunder 2022

Very accessible orange wine without any hint of being overly “natural”. Crisp and the bit of skin contact gives it just enough body and texture to be interesting. — 2 months ago

Amazing nose. Mid to late season very ripe cherries, cranberry bog, white chocolate, and some citrus rind. Gorgeous. Spice and violets as well. Palate is rich and tense at the same time with gorgeous sweet cherry fruit and unreal purity and freshness. Super silky and sweet with great acidity and mineral sweet cherry finish. Now with air there is gorgeous blackberry and black raspberry. Unreal red cherries and spice. Really lifted nose. Palate is much redder than the nose lets on and has really engaging minerality. So pure and well made. Almost a 9.5. — 3 months ago

Rhini Blauer Spätburgunder 2013

Burgundian on the nose. As if you know that you’re about to taste something special. On the palate freshness. Sour cherries at first with some lingering umami. At 11 years old this is in its prime drinking window. — 2 days ago

Great that we now get some back vintage notes on Ziereisen, E&M and Thörle going on this App. German Pinot rocks.

Baden Pinot Noir 2019

Meaningfully better than I expected for their base bottling. Opened 6 hours before but no decant; slight chill. Incredibly drinkable and the type of precise acid on the finish that almost compels you to take another sip. — 7 days ago

This is a score based on potential. This was slammed shut and never got past that phase. — 2 months ago
