Pavillon De Bellevue

M. Chapoutier

"Le Pavillon" Ermitage Syrah 2007

Damn. This is delicious and in an amazing spot 😍

It has effusive aromas & flavors black cherry preserves, dried fig, prune, rose, graphite, coffee grounds, blackberry bramble, licorice, leather, tobacco, peat, clove, star anise, cardamom, cured meat, black peppercorn, wet earth, mushroom, potting soil, balsamic glaze..

On the palate it’s dry with high - barely so - alcohol (14% ABV). The acidity is lovely and energetic. Tannins are silky and well-integrated.

100% Syrah from Hermitage hill, biodynamic and lower intervention in the winery. Textured and deep.

Delicious !!!!

Schiste Bellevue Morgon 2016

These wines when young have felt dense - but at 9 years have shed some fat, with sappy but lively fruit and a tense, mineral energy — 4 months ago

Saint Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

Lush, full bodied Bordeaux at a ridiculous value. Dense but balanced. All the usual notes of blackberry coulis, currants etc but, man, just eye opening fruit that still feels old school. — 8 months ago

Really delicious wine. Deep flavor and incredibly smooth. Paired great with a burger, but it would probably paragraph with just about anything. — 3 months ago

Château Pavillon Figeac

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

This is surprisingly good for a bargain-priced St. Emmie. Nose shows clear, ripe plummy Merlot fruit, some clay-inflected earth, some underbrush, and subtle, pleasant vegetal note. Very nice balance and mouthfeel. Not a bruiser, but more on the elegant side. Fruit, tannin, acids all nicely dancing together. I like this a lot! — 7 months ago

@Tom Casagrande, I have always had a soft spot for St. Emilion, my favorite of all the Bordeaux communes (well, at least taking pricing into account)!!

Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and subtle earthy notes lead to a palate marked by vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a touch of minerality. Medium-bodied.
Driving nicely at year 10 but don’t think it will improve with further cellar time.
