Two Hands

Sexy Beast McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

A cabernet from down-under. Why not?
The nose shows intense notes of cherry, black currant, graphite, some oak and some mentholy note too. The palate shows a great acid drive, a wonderful cassis note shining through and through, some width, some weight on the sides, a lively, grippy mouthfeel that evolves into a very strong tannic wall in the rear. The mid palate is massive and powerful and leaves a fine grain all over a finish that lasts for a very long time with that shiny black currant note, a reminiscence of that menthol thing and a gentle bitter note in the very end too. It's very young and should benefit from a couple of additional years in bottle. Good stuff!

Bella's Garden Barossa Valley Shiraz 2010

Very dark in colour - almost black. Lots of everything - ripeness, oak, blackberry, dark chocolate. The sort of wine I would have loved in my 20’s, not so much in my 70’s. Not for lovers of delicate wine - this is full throttle. This Australian producer is probably better known in the USA than Australia - like Mollydooker. A full bodied palate with M plus intensity and grainy tannins. Ranked No. 3 in Wine Spectators Top 100 wines of 2012. Not sure that extended cellaring will make a huge difference but will try to have the last one in early 2027. — 3 months ago

I have these, and this vintage also, agreed they are pedal to the floor, minimum 20Y wait for me until the fruit and alcohol start to abate. 🤞

Lily's Garden McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017

Super spicy. Edgy dry fruit with notes of tar and cigar, yet a nice balanced finish. Definitely not the typical full bodied, lucious Shiraz you’d expect from South Australia. — 25 days ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

1989 vintage. Tasted 5.5.23 (9.5), 4.4.23 (6 different btls-avg 9.4) and 12.9.22 (9.6). Above average fill for the age and impressive cork (about 70% saturated). Decanted and tasted over the course of two hours. Threw a decent amount of powdery sed. Medium nose slightly muted for the first 10 minutes or so but then came roaring to life. Yes, still the hallmark blueberries and cocoa powder along with a dash of raspberry but bigg graphite with this bottle. Drank consistently great for 1.75 hours, then seemed to lose a little steam at the very end. Not improving but still think cellar dwellers need to be popped in the next five years to enjoy the magic before it fades. 3.28.24. — 3 months ago

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Hands of Time Napa Valley Red Wine 2015

Quite deep ruby , with thin ruby garnet rim. Quite rich and decadent on the nose , plum , ripe cassis , oak , blackberry , coffee and dark chocolate . On the palate again rich and quite sweet , with dark plum , cassis , blackberry and coffee hints . There are some spice notes and chocolate richness on the medium length finish . The alcohol is a little noticeable, just balanced acidity and quite fine , polished tannins . Unapologetically juicy and quite rich , if lacking a little complexity. Though this will age ok , I would prefer to drink over the next 5 -7 years . — 6 days ago

Alpha Omega

Two² Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

A Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend of all 5 Bordeaux varieties, aged for 10 months in 25% new French oak, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, oak and cigar box spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and currants with cacao and herb spice. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak, spice and earthy mineral character. Nice! — a month ago

Two Creeks Vineyards Pinot Noir 2020

very very light, oaky notes, red fruit, slightly acidic, smooth finish, personally I think it was aged a perfect amount, got better as it airated, I don’t really taste a specific fruit note but it is fruity in general, possible berry notes. paired every well with steak — 3 months ago
