Very good. Enjoyed with prime rib. Dark plum color. Ripe plum and light oak on palate. Low tannins. — 6 months ago
Well past it's prime but carefully stored. Notes of cherry tobacco, forest floor, blackberries and clay. Really quite amazing. — 7 months ago
Nose was divine. Tannins seem to indicate past its prime — 2 months ago
Deep garnet color; graphite, blackberries, and oak on the nose; medium acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like casis, crushed gravel, and leather with a long finish. It may be a little past prime, but it still has a little fruit. Best wine I've ever had. Birthday year wine for me! Might not be the best Tig vintage, but nothing to scoff at. The ‘88 is getting to be almost last prime, this time bottle showing well. Rusty red with strong aromas of cigar box, leather, and pencil shavings. Drinks slightly thin, and im not getting much fruit. Still, it’s tasty and a special vintage to me. — 4 months ago
2005 Wine Spectator wine of the year.
1 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). A thrilling dark garnet with some bricking. Nose: beautiful aromatic notes with cherry, old leather, wet earth, floral, licorice. Taste: velvety smooth, creamy, balanced wine with dark berries, cedar, licorice, spice, espresso, dark chocolate, and a nice satin long finish. YUM! Just gonna sit back and enjoy the ride tonight. Paired with a Christmas prime rib roast dinner. Cheers! — 6 months ago

Bold flavors from this excellent wine, that may have been just a little bit past its prime. But a fantastic accompaniment to the Prime stakes we shared at Hanna‘s for for the birthdays of our friends the Swanson and the Bailey‘s. #napacabs #napavalleyred #chateaumontalena — a month ago
