Great Cali pinot! Orange Zest and Brass set this one apart. Brass/sanguine minerality. Solid, wish it was stored better. — 6 years ago
2003. Solid fill. Excellent cork. Decanted and throwing a sh*t-ton of sed. Big (but desirable) funk on the initial decant nose. Tasted after 1.5 hours and 2.5 hours open. Light medium/medium body. Dirty animal. A little brett but unusual, and fleeting, richness in the upper front gums with a touch of mint and watercress waving hello. Then, it rapidly got down to brass tacks. Dried earth, porcini mushroom and cassis. Likely another 4-5 years in this realm before switching things up. — 2 years ago
Actually the 21st Edition of the Brut Rose. Colour of Rose Gold like a high quality watch - copper, brass notes in the decadent colour. Aromatics of red currant, pink grapefruit and a hint of honey. An ultra fine mousse always found in prestige Champagne. The palate is all about Intensity showing the red fruits, spice and general influence of high quality Pinot Fruit. Much of this edition is based on the excellent 2008 vintage. A memorable Rose Champagne as expected - matched with Danish mussels Georgie brought from Copenhagen for my 71st Birthday - happy days. — 3 years ago
I don’t think I have ever had a Malbec from France. It made a statement! Crisp, sharp tannins submerged in dark extracts of pipe tobacco, cassis, dark cherry and unripe blue berries. Strong backbone with vibrant acidity. We started sipping it late at night and it evolved from an intriguing brass quartet to a full blown symphony with huge drums, trumpets, and double bass. — 5 years ago

Was unsure about this cause it had some bad reviews but decided to try anyway because I like Jura wines and think it’s an underrated region. I can see why people didn’t like it but I did my best to appreciate its uniqueness. Deep orange-y brass color, thick oily legs. Honeycomb, cocoa butter, soy sauce, orange blossom, shredded coconut, grilled banana on the nose, kinda smells like a brandy or a light sherry. Sharp liquor-like palate that also reminds me a little of brandy, with similar tasting notes - fairly well balanced soy-saltiness, syrupy-sweetness, woody acidity with notes of honeysuckle, lavender, creamy cocoa butter, and stiff alcohol. My husband says it reminds him of some dry orange wines, and it is indeed pretty orange. Unique and interesting to try but don’t think I’ll get another. — 5 years ago
Mother Mary of God! Near Pomerol like. Charles Hendricks masterpiece. Menthol & a touch of mint.
Stunning vintage & wine.
This 07 is in perfect shape…at its peak. Still has 7 plus years of life.
Black raspberries, black raspberries, black plum, dark cherries, purple fruits, dark chocolate/pudding, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, softened, cinnamon stick, vanilla, dark, rich soils, moist, limestone mush, black tea, black licorice, bay leaf, salted caramel, dryish twig, menthol, mint, volcanic ash, sandalwood, dark withering to candied, red, blue florals, lavender framed in violets with perfect acidity and a amazingly, structured, well knitted/tensioned and elegantly polished finish that lasts minutes falling squarely on earthy minerality.
Second wine with an Allen Brother’s Ribcap recently bought on the secondary market for $55.

Hmm Czech wine. I only know the beers. Color is bright golden. Almost brass. Smells good. Lemon bar and pineapple sparkling water. Just a hint of stream bank or ocean mist. Excellence on the palate. Zingy, supple and tart. Apples. Like really nice tart apples. This is a bit like Riesling, but also has Viognier and Chardonnay elements. The floral and citrus-y side is great. Really pleasing white wine. — 3 years ago
Nice job for a tough year. This is a blue collar Riesling. Dark brass color, earthy nose, with loads of petrol-like minerality and lots of dried apricot. Intense and relatively weighty in the mouth, it packs a good initial wallop of minerality, with a bit of fruit, in a bone dry framework. Good acids. Persistence on the finish is lacking a bit, but otherwise lots of character.I agree with a prior tasting note I saw that this — surprisingly for a young wine — tastes like a well-aged Spatlese Trocken. — 5 years ago
A delightful weekend wine. Pairs great with streak and lamb. I’m not a pessimist but yet love it. Brass and bold — 6 years ago
Avocado seed brown, roiling body with cream snow drifts, and woodcut tsunami wave lacings that vanish to swishes. Dried vines, roasted hazelnut, light but raw cane sugar, cinnamon toast, Swedish licorice with salt, dark applesauce, and a pleasant, funkiness from an earthbound tuber; rutabaga? Heavenly mouthfeel! Near perfect! What texture. A revelatory experience. Clearly enlightened monks inspired by the divine. Tea biscuit, toast, dark almond, balanced malt, cocoa nibs, marbled rye, nutmeg and a shimmery minerality that vibrates like wound brass across the tastebuds. Coffee and tea in silver rounds out your breakfast fare. — 7 years ago

Bright polished brass in color. Spiced baked quince on the inviting nose. Echoed on the full-bodied palate which adds very ripe lemon and clover honey. Cut through with bright medium plus acidity. Moderate finish continues the palate. Classic CdL that's all set for (British or bread) puddings, fresh or baked stone fruit, or various cheeses with dried fruit on a plate. Drink now through 2040. — a year ago
