Vau de Vey Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2021

Sticking with the Vau de Vey alliterative format, this is very vibrant and vivacious. Extraordinarily pure ripe apple (with a nod toward peach) fruit on the nose, backed up with very clean limestoney minerality. On the palate, there’s an immediate jolt of very pure fruit, a soft, enveloping texture, and then the mineral notes kick in on the extended finish. Clearly unoaked, and with crisp, integrated acidity. Nicely done. Textbook. — 12 days ago

Ante Phylloxera Clos de Maulevrier Franc De Pied Touraine Cabernet Franc 2016

Called barbaresco. Actually pre-phylloxera cab franc, 160+ yr old wines. Beautiful ruby color, expressive fruit, some spice and weight. Loved it — 2 months ago

Les Cornuelles Vieille Vigne Chinon Cabernet Franc

This had an oxidized style, which I think/think is consistently this producer’s style? It was delicious and precise nonetheless. — a month ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2014

This is much more backward and has a tannic edge to it, dark fruits, good length, I suspect that this will always show that tannic edge, big and richer than the Traboules, but I prefer the refined aromatics and balance of the Traboules tonight. — a month ago
