Lot 12 Solex UW, disg 18 Feb 16. A stunning btl of champagne. Notes from 3 hrs open. Cranberry and cinnamon, then soft reductive notes, lemon peel, spices...on the palate: fantastic acidity, which is brighter than the nose suggests, then some lovely mineral notes with more cranberry and cinnamon. A fantastic BdN. — 5 years ago
Dark purple/black color. Aromas of cooked black fruit, violets and Asian spices. Blackberry compote, huckleberry, blueberry jam and black plum fruit flavors along with notes of chocolate, black licorice, basil, tobacco, coffee and vanilla. Hint of saline on the long and drawn out finish. High, but not obvious, alcohol (16%). Velvety texture and tannin structure. Plush, bold and powerful. Thanks for sharing, James W. — 3 months ago
Has a high fruit forward nose, apples, pears, kiwi. Faint, faint, vanilla and oak but still really fruit forward. — 9 months ago
Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘18: 90% CS, 5% Malbec, 5% Merlot. Least favorite of the night. Still a good wine but perhaps a bit too young, or just different enough from the others that I liked ones with a bit more age. This wine had a little more density than the others and perhaps a little more earth and graphite coming through that masked the fruit. It still had the classic doubleback elegance of the others but I felt we were not seeing this wine’s true expression. It only had about 1 hour in the glass and perhaps I need to pull another bottle, decant for a few hours and see what it does. — 5 years ago
Cork giving out but why not after 19 years! Wine is escaping to fresh beauty with a little wet dog age that I like.

80% Zin, 16% Petite Syrah, 4% Carignane
14.7% is reigning it in on this varietal and well done! Doesn’t feel fire breathing at all 👏 — 6 months ago

Still hanging in there. Nose is clearly diminished, but the wine still rocks. Minerally, like it was filtered through slate. Apple, pear, still a touch of petrol. Little honeysuckle? So good. — 3 months ago
