Hard to read at this point more dark than red fruit at this point. Very expensive about 150 Euros. Over the top on price. — a month ago
Another solid vintage of Ziereisen’s Entry Level Baden Spatburgunder. Dark garnet color with a ruby core. Fragrant aromas of red cherry/berry fruit, forest floor and a hint of smoke. Flavors of sour cherry, unripe strawberry and pomegranate fruit with additional hints of dried herbs, savory spices and minerals. Long lasting earthy finish and extremely smooth tannins. Medium bodied with a very smooth texture and a bit of tension. Rustic but quite elegant at the same time. Excellent quality for a reasonable price. — 3 months ago
This is backwards out of the gates but it’s all there. Huge density, power and concentration while remaining fresh and incisive. Needs an hour and I will be back. Needed way more than an hour. Still on day 2 this is dense and sinewy. Really structured but so fresh. Acts like high end Crozes or baby Hermitage. On day 3 this has finally come around! Like the 18 and 15! Unreal aromas and so expansive. Sweet, dense and long 9.4 to 9.5. But it was like pushing a boulder up a cliff. — 6 months ago
Nose: sexy. Cherry lipstick. Dense. Quite penetrating. Earthiness. Insane sexy rich herbals. Almost like a red chartreuse.
Palate: dense. Purplish a bit. Darker fruits. Hints of cherry licorice. Almost like a very fresh pommard.
Long finish. So grippy. Amazing.
Hanspeter ziereisen made this in vintage. A sick wine for $100. This was much less. — 3 years ago
Wine tasting at Ziereisen. In Baden Effringen-Kirchen. Without doubt one of the top 10 winemakers in all of Germany and perhaps in the top 100 in the world. Went through all of his portfolio. This entry level Chasselat aka Gutedel was lemon driven mostly. Fantastic intro to the grape. And relatively inexpensive. — a month ago

Yowza! Nose is pitted fruits like peach, nectarine and also some pink grapefruit flesh but wow that color. True Pinot Gris. Floral, pancakes, hint of honey and so complete. Miraculous nose. Palate is just insane. Juicy and elegant like I cannot tell you elegant this wine is. So pure, like rainwater in Iceland flowing off a glacier. Palate is sapid and so dense but this thing just floats. Unreal spirits and crazy tannic structure on the endless finish. Yikes!! Wow the nose has a brown sugar thing now and it’s just a freak show. Unreal finesse. Wow. After a few hours this has just gotten elite. 9.8 may be too low! — 4 months ago

Glorious nose of spice, deep late season cherry fruit. licorice, cherry flower and more. So deep and layered. Palate is just stunning. Tannic and juicy with such depth. So concentrated and structured. Just world class stuff here. Really ethereal and also super serious. — 7 months ago
It seems to me that if you blended Weiss Burgunder and Grau Bergunder it would be similar to this.
Natural-esque - on the edge for my tolerance to natty-ness; earthy, mushroom, wet wood. 6 years might have been a wee long to wait. — 2 years ago

Outrageous, utterly distinctive nose of hazelnut, iodine, quarry salt, limestone, butterscotch and a touch of sweet oak. The palate is juicy, concentrated and incisive, with terrific acidity, perfect balance and explosive fruit. So precise, so complex, with a salty, echoing finish that keeps building. There is no other Chardonnay like this. — 5 days ago
