Brandlin Estate Mount Veeder Estate Cuvée 2019, Napa Valley, California
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, diet coke, dark chocolates, light earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, light spices, black pepper.
Full-bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, black plums, stewed cherries, chocolates, cedar, coffee, tobacco, cola, light earth, herbs, peppercorn, licorice and green tea.
Long spicy finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Mount Veeder. Elegant and robust. Spicy and entertaining.
Well balanced with nice complexity and mouthfeel. Rich and extracted. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.
Good right out of the bottle, and much better after 2 hours in the decanter.
This 5 year old will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years, with good potential to become a 94 point wine.
Easy drinking and very tasty. Loved the complexity on the nose and kept smelling on it.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Zinfandel, 7.5% Petit Verdot and 7.5% Cabernet Franc. Aged in (33% new) French Oak barrels for 20 months.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2021 Mataro “Napa County” pours a deep ruby/purple with a transparent core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful showing abundant, gorgeous dark fruits: blackberry and marionberry, purple flowers, cocoa, black pepper, stony minerals and soft baking spices. In the palate, medium+ tannins with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose and there is a long, spicy finish. FWIW, I typically feel the Sandlands Mataros need a bit of time in the cellar. This version from the Brandlin Vineyard is delicious and already pretty easy to enjoy. Drink now with some patience but this can easily age for 15-20 years. — a year ago

"Odedi"
Pale lemon in color with golden hue.
Strong nose of gooseberries, limes, grapefruits, herbs, green apples, light wood, spices, earth and light minerals.
Full-bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with limes, lemons, grapefruits, green apples, vegetables, spices, bitter herbs and white pepper.
Tangy finish with limes and spices.
This is a very enjoyable Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley. Rich, complex and elegant. Showing lots of earth notes, which surprised me a bit.
Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years and see how it evolves.
A good food wine that I paired with an Italian seafood pasta dish.
100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes were aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 11 months. A small production of only 15 barrels.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
