Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2021

The aroma. If something tastes superb, it is how this wine impacts your senses. Smelling in the glass just before swallowing takes you to wine lovers heaven. Enjoyed with my wife, my son, sister in law and René, Who surprised all of us with this present. — a day ago

The Standish Wine Company

Single Vineyard Shiraz 2019

Decanted for 24 hours so that it could open up as it’s so young.
Incredible flavour, complex, red fruits but not too bold and some nuisance too.
Time will serve this well. A winemaker who dances to his own tune and making great music.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf (Equinox Edition 1) Chardonnay 2012

Almost a 91. But a bit short. Peaches and dried nuts. A little on the viscous side and to be honest with you I really didn't know what to expect. Leaner towards the finish. If I saw this on a discount for $40, I'd buy a couple of bottles. Rearding longevity, I just don't think this one is getting any better in the bottle, so might as well drink it now. — 6 years ago

Another wine that seems to be in “drink now” mode. A touch sulfuric on the nose. Very savory with sea salt, popcorn kernel, and only the faintest note of Meyer lemon. Herbal, sea salt butter, and butterscotch. Unique.

Château d'Yquem

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2001

Without doubt the greatest sticky I’ve ever tasted. I nosed it for 30 mins, it was so clear and bright with tropical fruit and light stony minerality. The apricot and mango were lifted over my palate by actual angels who may’ve swiped a taste on the brief journey. Wish I could’ve sat up with a last glass all night, thank you Lenny. 🙏🏼 — 8 months ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 1984

Happy belated birthday wine to me.

Nose is all earth and truffles and cigar tobacco; wet forest leaf and barbecue sauce. Some cheese rind and dirty sock. Definitely past it’s aromatic peak, but at 37, who isn’t?

Palate is bright though with red acids and tastes young!

Better on day two... cheese is toned down and some fruit is peeking out.

Caillard

Mataro 2015

Mid Ruby red in colour with a tawny edge. Sour cherry with touches of pepper and cloves. Not as raspberry as I was expecting from old vine Mataro. With a couple of hours of aeration the raspberry notes started coming through finishing with Sandy tannins. This wine is made by the multi talented Andrew Caillard who is the supremo of Fine Wine retailer and auctioneer Langtons who allowed Andrew to make his superb range of wines under his own label using old vine Mataro and Shiraz; painted the exquisite labels himself and who achieved a Master of Wine in his spare time. I am lucky to have 5 of these beauties left. 96 points from James Halliday. — 3 years ago

Château Troplong Mondot

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Domaine de Mondot belonged to Father de Seze, who had the present-day chateau built in 1745. Very much taken by the estate, Raymond Troplong purchased it in 1850 and constituted the vineyard as we know it today. Dark Ruby with black fruit aromas and floral aromas. On the palate cherry and ripe blackberry with oak, coffee and earthy notes. Fine tannins with, long finish ending with fresh fruit, mineral and an earthy character. — 5 years ago

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

I have had the 2010,2012,& 2014 of this wine. I thought the 2010 was the best followed by the 2014 as my second & then the 2012 as the third place. But overall a solid, consistent producer who makes vino for peeps that don't mind shelling out the clams! — 6 years ago
