2nd Ribcap wine. Delicious!
2006 followed the grand 2005 vintage. It was overpriced based on 2005 & critically reviewed as a difficult vintage. I can tell you 06 was overpriced, but still a good to very good vintage depending on the region & producer.
The fruits are classic Bordeaux…nicely ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, very dark cherries, black plum, plum, mix of strawberries & red cherries. Wet, volcanic clay, lead pencil for days, slightly, dry tobacco, dark spices, mix of mostly dry & fresh herbs, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon & vanillin, volcanic ash, used leather, sandalwood to cedar, forest floor w/ dry leaves, dry river stone, steeped, dark fruit tea, withering, slightly candied; dark, red florals with hints of violets, round, fresh, river stream acidy, a plush, round, elegant, nicely; tensioned, structured, balanced and elegant polished finish that last 90 seconds. — 6 months ago
Nose starting to bloom, dark fruit, tobacco, leather. Dark ruby. Fruit starting to mature, cassis, blackberry and black cherry. Sweet tobacco, leather, forest floor, oak. Acidity strong, tannins chalky but tight. Grippy mouthfeel. Needs air to open up a bit but still lot of time left to go. Gonna save my next bottle for at least 5 years. Nice long finish. — a year ago
Addictive and absolutely stunning. Super elegant and lean when compared to the Buntsandstein from E&M. Ethereal cherry 🍒 light as air. Crushed Marble. Essentially like a Premier Cru Chambolle Musigny from the slopes of the black forest. Tannin’s fully resolved. Drink Up!!!! I would not keep this longer. From here on out it will loose its luster. — 3 months ago

Black currant and fig fruit, with forest floor notes. — 5 months ago
Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, spice and dried herbs. On the palate flavors of blackberry, currants and ripe cherry with cedar spice and forest herbs. Fine firm tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy character. Good value! — 2 years ago
Looked at Lyles, Matthew’s and Josh’s notes written in 2020. Needs a ton of air - about 2 hours to mellow out. Strong perfumed nose. In the glass cranberry, moss and what i call E&M black forest herbs, velvety, touch capsaicin, hint orange juice. Quite tannic. Fantastic fruit components develop over time! First cherries notes next are black currants and elderberry tones. What a trip!. NEEDS 2 hours of air. Drink now with a heavy decant and air? Yes 🙌. It is in a perfect spot despite the tannins. What a wine!!! I will drink this vintage up over the course of 24/25. — 3 months ago
Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of ripe dark berry fruits and earthy forest floor notes, from this hot 2017 vintage. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with cacao, cedar, espresso and pepper spice. Fine soft tannins, great balance, complex long finish ending with earthy herbs, fruit and oaky notes. Nice! Small production, 850 cases made! — 6 months ago
Amazing w/ the Allen Brothers A-5 wagyu.
This is another Bordeaux producer that makes wines for the ages. I’ve waited & waited on 2000, this shows some readiness. Yet, will go another 20 plus years.
Tonight this is well balanced earth & candied fruit. In 10 years, this is candied fruit & florals.
Still medium plus tannins. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum with ample skin, juicy dark cherries, poached strawberries, raspberries, dry limestone grains with powder, dark, forest floor with dry leaves, some dry herbaceousiness-bay leaf, mint, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon, hints of vanillin, mid berry cola, sandalwood to cedar shavings, used leather, pipe tobacco, anise, some mocha, sun tea, dark, red, purple flowers with a touch of blue, excellent acidity and a well knitted structure, balanced, nicely tensioned with a ripe, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes.

+1 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). A splendid dark ruby red color. On the nose: Intoxicating/intense nose of black fruit, dark currants, worn leather, forest floor, coffee grounds, minty dark chocolate. Taste: smooth, satiny, structured, balanced wine with chocolate covered brambly blackberry, tobacco, earth, cedar, black pepper, and a herbal licorice long finish. A medium body old world style wine that shows well right now and should continue to provide more years of enjoyable sipping. — a month ago
