2014 - Vintage Domaine Tempier “La Tourtine” 80%-Mourvedre 10%-Grenache 10%-Cinsault ( no Carignan in this wine) red rim mediums red color, a lot of other than fruit aromas earth, mushroom, sage, undergrowth, black fruit beautifully presented with medium tannins softening nicely. This is out of a magnum ( good time to start drinking but definitely some time left) they have different names on the label signifying different blends this is the La Tourtine but they also have “La Migoua” and just a Bandol with no designation label says 11%-14% ( I bet on the 14%) — 5 days ago
Medium ruby garnet quite narrow terracotta rim . Quite herbal , dried strawberry and red cherry nose , touch of iodine , sous bois , dried mushroom notes , discreet roasted coffee note after a while. Quite pretty red fruits on the palate with good freshness , strawberry , earthy cherry and a marine , iodine like note , sous bois underneath . Quite elegant and well balanced acidity with fine tannic grip . Good red fruit , earthy tinged finish . This is showing more advanced than the 2001 Reserva , and would like to try another bottle of this , as I suspect this half is a bit below par. On the basis of this bottle drink now and over the next 5 or so years . — 6 days ago
One of the bottles from my annual WWC hosting. I opened this as a side by side to a 2019 Saxum White as the makeup is fairly similar.
80% roussanne/ remaining a mix of Grenache Blanc, Clairette, piquepoul blanc, picardan and bourboulenc.
Nicely expressive at pop, it then faded and hid in a shell for a few hours before coming back at last glass. At 80% roussanne, I expected a more consistent expressive profile (honeyed tropical fruits, some orange) and for the acid to show a touch, but it was a roller coaster. More melon and light fruits vs bigger/more tropical. Medium bodied but not as rich as expected. It’s clean and shows some floral and mineral/stony nuances, but I’d spend the extra and take the Roussanne VV to get more complexity and flavor. — a month ago

whoa - this was a hedonistic wine, inky w/pungent aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plums, licorice, cassis, vanilla, cocoa and minerality running through it all - liquified compote like fruit - on the palate you get some phenolic heat but just gobs of velvety black fruit, spice and minerals, big plush, integrated tannins and just enough acidity to keep everything moving to a long lingering caressing finish. known this producer for a long time, a Priorato stalwart - their entry level wine, doesn't have the typical terroir of the region but still impressive — 11 days ago
